Here is my research paper for this year’s Humanities programme. I once read about a tweet saying that most social injustice we are having today, including sexism, homophobia, unfair labour practices, etc., are all racist from the beginning. That was what gave me this inspiration of writing something about racist feminism.
I have read too much related literature this year that made me super uncomfortable, and I think being uncomfortable is a good thing for progress. Usual Girls is a play I read for my theatre class in the second semester, and it made me so annoyed, not only because I’m a woman, but also because I’m Asian. These two factors add onto each other, and sometimes they get me into self-doubt even self-hatred, asking myself why am I I. Feeling that uncomfortableness and anger give me a reason to say that such problems (sexism, racism, etc.) are still around us, and it is not right, and we need to fix them.ZhuNatalieFinal
